Born and raised as an Italian American, rich foods and good wines are a huge part of my lifestyle. In my early 40's, I woke up one morning with a pain in my right big toe. It was swollen, red and purple, and felt like I had broken my foot in my sleep. I couldn't walk and the heat and pain were terrible. I hate to admit it but I was reduced to tears. This lasted for two weeks, 3 days of not walking and 4 days of limping, and another week of nagging pain while walking, like something was in my foot but deep in my foot and heel.

Then, it all disappeared. I did not know that it was actually gout and thought it was some kind of infection. Well life went on with the rich foods and lots of red wine and beer. Until several months later, I could see swelling in my shin. This time, I went to the doctor and he just said, "It's Gout. Here have some indocid pills and be on your way.

Well, I took the pills and the swelling went down but the Gout beast didn't stay away long. It came back with a vengeance a month later and the symptoms were really bad this time. It seems to start in one foot and then jump over the other foot the next day. And the pain was disgusting.

So I limped off to the doctor again. He didn't say hey your diet is bad so you need to change it. He didn't say I could cut out drinking alcohol. He just said take this indocid and he gave me two containers of pills (not named) and said if you take these, you will never get gout again.

I asked what these miracle pills did and he stated that they will limit the amount of uric acid my body will produce and hence stop the gout. I was happy with this solution until my wife insisted that the doctor looked up the side-effects. Anyways, he checked and said "oh" then read out: loss of hair, hollowness of bone growth, and kidney effects. After going home, I looked some more on the internet and found 20 more problems, such as heart failure, with prolong use of these miracle pills. I didn't take these pills and never will. I am not going to be a guinea pig.

This was when I changed doctors and I started researching natural gout remedies and decided to try Uricinex. Within a few days of taking it, I immediately noticed a definite relief in swelling and pain. Over time, the Gout disappeared altogether and never came back. I still take Uricinex now and then to keep Gout from coming back. I don't know what I would do without Uricinex. It changed my life for the better.
